Hey guys!
Before we get in to this one, I just want to point out that the
idea of ‘every day make up’ can be very different from person to person. Some
may like to keep it natural with a tinted moisturiser and 1 coat of mascara, and others may want to rock
a blue cut crease with a red lip - and that’s the beauty of how creative make
up can be.
Mine is somewhere in between. I mainly just like to be ready for anything on my days off, whether it’s a quick shopping trip or spending time with family and friends, I like to be prepared and have a face to match. Though most of you who know me can agree that you’re most likely to find me in my dressing gown, with my hair scraped back and led in bed, I do sometimes like to get out of my room. Sometimes.
Off we go.
- First I prime with my Smashbox Photo Finish Primer for a perfect matte base. It also helps me control the oil and shine on my face throughout the day.
- Next, I fill my brows in using my trusty NYX Micro Brow Pencil in Espresso. Yes, I do my eyebrows before anything else. I have my brows tattooed and this is the easiest way to follow and outline my brow shape so that they don’t get lost underneath my foundation and powder etc.
- I then sharpen up my brows by going round the edges with my YSL All Hours Concealer in shade #2.
- Next I apply my foundation, my every day go-to at the moment is Nars Sheer Glow in shade Punjab. This colour is perfect for when I’m in between a tan.
- I then conceal my under eye with that same concealer I used earlier. It's a few shades lighter than my foundation to add more dimension to the face and cancel out dark circles better.
- Then, powder. I use the YSL Soufflé Declat in shade #3. I love the Laura Mercier Transluscent Powder but found it sometimes made my face look almost too matte, and i'm all about the glow, so I switched it up to this. This powder has a teeny tiny shimmer to it to make the skin look more natural. I use this everywhere except my cheek bones, so that they stay dewier.
- Next I use my Urban Decay Beached Bronzer in shade Bronzed to warm up my complexion a little, putting this on my cheeks and edges of the face.
- By this point I usually can’t be bothered to highlight, but if I do its probably the Marc Jacobs Dew Drops to make my skin look all healthy and glowy. Side note, they do smell unbelievably good.
- Blush – I was using the NYX blush in Pink the Town, but it broke, Wah. I have Galifornia by Benefit as a backup, but it has way too much pigment for my liking and leaves me looking like a clown. So yeah, I’m currently in the market for a new blush. Suggestions please?
- When it comes to eyes, I either reach for my Naked Heat or Jaclyn Hill palette because you can create a look with either of these without fussing around. I’m likely to lean towards something warm and simple on the eyes for day to day. Usually browns and pinks are effortless and always look pretty so i go for these tones the most often.
- Finally I chuck some brown eye pencil in my waterline and coat my lashes with whatever mascara is closest to me. One I’ve been loving recently is the the L'Oreal Paradise.
Then at this point, I would have probably spent all my time on
my face and be running late for whatever I’m doing. This results in me chucking on any old
nude lippy, and the hair doesn’t really get any TLC whatsoever. Story of my
life! My 10+ step routine might seem like a lot to some people or average to others, but either way i love doing it.
